Soil sulphur levels have been declining for years, severely limiting crop production. By upcycling sulphur with our Micronized Sulphur Technology (MST®) Sulvaris aims to combat soil sulphur deficiencies and lessen its negative impact on global food security.
Our pilot plant in Calgary, Alberta can produce MST® to test, validate and optimize various production processes for our whole suite of MST® products. Production amounts are large enough to test our products in the lab, ship samples, and test processes to provide a level of confidence for scale-up to a commercial scale trial.
Last year Sulvaris successfully made Urea MST® in a pilot plant commercial scale trial using drum granulation with a biuret level acceptable for commercial agricultural use. Urea can also be granulated using a fluidized bed or prilled using prill towers. Our pilot plant staff and engineers were able to build in-house a pilot-scale fluidized bed to test granulation for Urea MST®. The pilot plant is essential for taking our R&D to a pilot-scale level for commercial discussion and expanding our product portfolio for integration into various production processes used around the world.
“When we couldn’t find an economical fluidized bed that fit our purposes we decided to build our own.” (David Kuehn, Senior Project Manager and HSE Manager)
