Food security is front of mind for us here at Sulvaris recognizing the 0.71 Billion people that do not have sufficient food consumption globally today. Sulfur is a key nutrient that we have engineered to be more efficient and applied more responsibly to increase food production.
Using all plant nutrients effectively is critical for pushing yields higher and getting the best return on your crop investment. This means using the right types of fertilizer to fit within your nutrient management plan. Our latest data on fall applications of MAP+MST® (Iowa, 2023) demonstrates a flexible application timing to achieve high yields in Sulfur responsive sites and reinforces what we have seen in previous years. This flexibility provides growers with additional options for nutrient management, showing suitability for fall or spring application strategies.
Using this data as an example for application this fall, applying MAP+MST® instead of MAP, would result in a 21bu/acre, or $89/acre net gain using current fertilizer prices. This also highlights the critical need for Sulfur in high yielding corn, and the impact of choosing MST® as a Sulfur source for crop nutrition.
Since nutrients were balanced, this tells us that other nutrients like nitrogen were used more efficiently, producing higher yields with the same amount of fertilizer inputs.
*All nutrients were balanced equally between treatments, except for ‘MAP´ which did not receive sulfur. Sulfur was applied at 20lbs S/acre.
