Sulvaris staff were pleased to attended the AgSmart Expo earlier this month hosted by Olds College of Agriculture & Technology to learn more about their Smart Farm, Technology Access Centre for Livestock Production and Field Crop Development Centre (FCDC), in addition to the many great talks from leaders within Alberta’s agrifood industry.
Depicted below is the new GHG measurement system at the Olds College Smart Farm. Canadian agriculture recognizes the need to quantify emissions to provide a baseline upon which management decisions and new technology adoption can be evaluated as solutions to achieve 2030 fertilizer emission reduction goals and build towards a 2050 net zero emissions future.
Sulvaris aims to provide growers with tools to reduce emissions and improve their crop yields by developing new fertilizer technologies. We are currently engaged in research with the U of A evaluating our Urea Micronized Sulfur Technology (UreaMST®) and Carbon Control Technology (CCT™) enhanced fertility products on their potential to abate GHG emissions. CCT™ fertilizers have previously seen up to 24% reductions in N₂0 emissions compared to conventional nitrogen fertilizer sources.
